Als einer der grössten Detail- und Grosshandelsunternehmen der Schweiz hat sich Coop der Nachhaltigkeit verpflichtet und rezykliert schon seit langem Rückläufe wie Leergut, Verpackungen oder Ausschuss. 2019 geriet die in der Coop Verteilzentrale Bern-Brünnen angesiedelte Leergutzentrale (LGZ) des Unternehmens an ihre Kapazitätsgrenzen – und Coop stand vor der planerischen Herausforderung, auf dem dicht bebauten Areal zusätzlichen Raum für die Leergutlogistik zu schaffen. Durch eine intelligente Restrukturierung des Standort-Layouts, die clevere Erweiterung der bestehenden Gebäude und eine Optimierung des Prozesslayouts konnte IE Food diese knifflige Aufgabe mit Bravour lösen – von der Machbarkeitsstudie bis hin zur erfolgreichen Umsetzung im laufenden Betrieb. Auf der Basis mehrerer Vorstudien und Machbarkeitsprüfungen entwickelten die Planer von IE Food ein ausgeklügeltes Restrukturierungskonzept, mit dem alle Wünsche erfüllt werden konnten. Durch die Verlagerung des Garagenbetriebs in ein nahestehendes Werkstattgebäude konnte das alte Garagengebäude neben der Leergutzentrale zurückgebaut werden, sodass Platz für einen hochmodernen Anbau entstand. Die bestehende Leergutzentrale wurde von Grund auf erneuert und mit dem neuen Anbau verschmolzen. Die so entstandene, funktionelle Einheit aus Neu- und Altbau bot den perfekten Rahmen für das intelligente neue Prozesslayout: Bestehende Anlagen wurden revidiert und teilweise ersetzt, Teilprozesse so weit wie möglich automatisiert. Dies alles in zeitlich präzise aufeinander abgestimmten Etappen und ohne Unterbrechung des laufenden Betriebs.
